Reminisce & Remember:  A Tribute to CHS
22 February 2020
Saturday Feb. 22 was a great day at Clearwater High. The event was a welcome and final tour of the school before it is demolished to make way for brand new buildings. Weather was perfect - clear and a cool 70. Over 1000 graduates showed up and the auditorium was packed. We saw a slide show of the proposed buildings.
The new CHS will make you proud. It will look like a college campus when completed. The band played and cheerleaders performed. Our faculty friend Bill Justice attended.  There were graduates as far back as 1955 there. Our own class of 1962 was well represented by 25 classmates.  Speeches by the Mayor and School Board members informed us of their roles in making this project a reality. Their successful Argument was that instead of yet another remodel -  a new. high tech. integrated campus is what our students and community needed and deserved.
The new construction will be completed in 30 months.
We enjoyed a slide show  history in pictures of the first Clearwater High building of 1914 up through the  present day edifice which opened in 1954.  Finally,  to the Oohs and Ahhs of everyone in the auduence,  colorful architects' sketches gave us a glimpse of the beautiful future high school campus.
We wanted you to feel part of this exciting transition in the life of our school.   We hope the above review helps you make that connection.
Plan to come celebrate with us at the future grand opening and at our 60th class reunion in 2022.
Go Tornadoes !
Best wishes from all your classmates!

"The joy of the Lord is your strength." Nehemiah 8:10

"When you read Catherine’s book entitled “Make Your Home in My Love, keep a highlighter handy!  There is much to underline and ponder!  It’s for serious seekers and seasoned servants of God.  It covers The Classic Three Ways plus One, unitive/active.  It’s also a study of 6 early Christians- Augustine, Bernard, Catherine of Siena, Ignatius, John Calvin and Teresa of Avila. If you remember Cathy, you know this is a very intelligent, interesting and thoroughly researched book!  I highly recommend it!"                  -Shirley Bowes Johnson-
